Audio

My audio art practice is centered on notions of reclamation; finding significance and meaning in what would otherwise be overlooked, forgotten or ignored. While our perceptual powers tend to filter out the seemingly insignificant with reductive utility, I record and listen carefully for those moments to highlight and amplify their unrecognized qualities. Starting from an engagement with the concerns of acoustic ecology, I design processes to transform environmental sounds, minimal sonic gestures and appropriated media samples, creating hybridized synthetic soundscapes. In assembling performative audio works from reclaimed and valorized incidental noises, I aim to heighten an awareness of the finer grained details of existence, salvaging these potentially lost moments.
